British Airways London Eye
1997 and 2001
British Airways London Eye
SPA has twice evaluated the regeneration and economic impact
of the London Eye: once in support of the original planning application
and subsequently in support of the application to extend the
original permission.
The second evaluation considered the impact of the early years
of operation of this now world famous icon. The study demonstrated
that the Eye had created a new anchor attraction on the South
Bank, which generated major increases in visitor numbers and
a large number of new and expanded businesses. The study included
the design and co-ordination of visitor and business surveys
and interviews with major landowners and stakeholders. |
