Mersey Tidal Energy

SPA, within a multi-disciplinary team, has twice been responsible for the assessment of the regeneration and economic development impacts of tidal energy investment on the Mersey.

In the first pilot study a single scheme was assessed. The second study encompassed different locations on the estuary and different tidal energy technologies. Impacts were assessed at the local and regional scales, including gross value per head, employment, spin-off business development and improved access for deprived communities in Liverpool and Wirral.
